If you’re the kind of person who likes to go off the beaten way then you should certainly visit Ice Sculpture Exhibition “Planet Ice” (in Russian “Планета lёd”), which have the bonus of being situated in the picturesque Sokolniki Park.
Exposition covers 500 square meters and is accompanied with a special LED illumination.
The exhibition of ice sculptures is held during the winter time and changes every year. Winners of international and Russian competitions take part in the creation of Ice sculptures.
Among their works is a highly detailed icy living room. On the white-and-transparent checkerboard floor stands a mirror table with ice perfume bottles. In the center of the living room there is a table with an ice vase full of ice fruits. Icy candlesticks and clock are placed on the mantelpiece. A chair and a bed complete the furniture set.
Another remarkable exposition is an art gallery with world famous masterpieces of Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Henri Matisse and Vincent van Gogh.
Among other exhibits: a maze, an ice cinema, an ice hotel and even ice Russian bath (“banya”).
Visitors are provided with special insulating coats.
It is noteworthy that during the summer time the exhibition transforms into exhibition of sand sculptures “Sand Art”.
