This year Moscow celebrates its 868th birthday. There will be about 1,000 different events and activities including parades, fairs, street entertainments, sports contests and live music concerts.
The celebration of Moscow city day 2015 will begin on September 3, at 8.30 PM with the evening concert of classical music “Eternal Music” that will be held on the square in front of the Bolshoi Theater.
On September 5, at 10.00 AM the opening ceremony of Moscow City Day 2015 will take place on Red Square and Tverskaya Street. In accordance with the tradition, the opening of the Festival Spasskaya Tower will be held within the framework of the opening ceremony of Moscow City Day. The joint band of the festival’s participants will pass along Tverskaya, accompanied by the riders of the Kremlin Cavalry Regiment.
A great variety of activities will engage visitors of all ages on the event days.
The 4th International Festival “Bright People” will be held from 13:00 PM to 10:30 PM in Neglinnaya Street. The brightest professionals of the creative industry — theatergoers, musicians, artists, artisans and other talents – will show their creations and share their skills with festival’s visitors. Apart from being the entertainment, the festival “Bright People” is also an educational project: workshops and lectures by Russian and European professionals will be available to the public.
On September 5, at 15:05 a big concert will be held in Lubyanka Square. Popular Russian singers will perform their hits. In addition, Aerosmith and John Newman are expected to be the “special guests” of this concert that will run until 10.30 PM.
During 5-6 of September Tsvetnoy Boulevard will turn into “Children’s Boulevard”. Workshops, dancing and free pony riding will delight every child.
The Boulevard Ring will host plenty of events including live music, dancing, various performances and shows.
On September 6, the festival of street musicians and the Moscow theaters will take place on Arbat Street.
Over 170 free walking and bicycle tours will be organized over the holiday weekend.
The celebration of Moscow city day 2015 will culminate in the evening with a firework display launched from different locations of the city. It will begin on Sunday, at 10:30 PM. Red square and Sparrow hills are considered the best viewing locations. From the Sparrow hills spectators will enjoy the panoramic view over the city plunged into the numerous fireworks.
