The theme of the festive programme of the Moscow City Day 2019 is ‘VDNKh: Past, Present, Future’. The square in front of VDNKh’s central entrance arch and the Central Alley will host art objects and face-in-hole boards with popular toys of different times.

VDNKh (the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy) is the largest exposition, museum and recreational complex in the world, one of the most popular public spaces of the capital city of Russia. Each year, it is visited by about 25 million people.

7 and 8 September, VDNKh will celebrate the City Day with a lot of events prepared for visitors of all ages: master classes, quizzes, concerts, performances, and a food festival.

It will have a Spikes lounge zone reminiscent of the Friendship of Peoples and the Golden Spike fountains. Chrysanthemums, pyramidal poplars and cereal plants will grow on the area covering 96 sq m. The venue will also have columns and benches, similar to those mounted at VDNKh in the mid-20th century.

On the City Day, 7 and 8 September, museums of the Moscow Department of Culture will offer free admission. Celebrations, concerts and exhibitions will be held at 80 venues. The special programme for Moscow’s 872nd anniversary includes walking excursions, performances, lectures and master classes.
