Museums at Night 2015

Museums at Night is an annual festival designed to encourage people into museums, galleries and heritage sites by showing off the best they have to offer. More than 250 cultural institutions  will be accessible free of charge all day long on May 16 till late at night.

Here’s our pick of the highlights.

  1. State Historical Museum

– performances by music groups
– outdoor kitchen
– master classes by the Kremlin riding school,
– photography exhibition “In the dugout” involving real weapons of World War II
– a master class “Military Communication” etc.

  1. Basil’s Cathedral

18.00 – 22.00 The atmosphere of the postwar (WWII) era will be recreated in the area adjacent to the cathedral: accordion playing, poetry reading, and etc.
18.00 – 21.00 a male vocal ensemble “Doros”

  1. The Cold War Museum “Bunker 42”

The museum is located in the centre of Moscow at the depth of 65 meters below the ground level

30-minute tours involving the 18 floors descent and ascent using stairs.

12.00 – 02.00 The Izmailovo Kremlin 5 museums (Museum of the History of Russian vodka, Bread Museum, the Museum of Russian folk toys, Russian Navy Museum and the Museum of Miniatures “World history in plasticine”) will work for free.

  1. VDNKh (National Exhibition of Economic Achievements)

The area of the National Exhibition will turn into an open-air gallery.
