If you want to see landmarks which are not available in any seasons except winter you can take a Baikal winter tour: Maloye Morye (small sea) and Olkhon Island. You will see caves and capes of Olkhon Island, traces of first man on the coast of Lake Baikal during our exciting trip.
Meeting at Irkutsk airport/railway station. Transfer to MRS (Sahyurta, 250 km). Accommodation in resort (twin/triple rooms). During the way we’ll observe cave drawings.
Breakfast. Car and hiking tour: visit to the Valley of the Sarma River and climbing the observation deck. The Sarma is the largest river which flows into Maloye Morye – its length is 42 km. The valley and estuary of the Sarma is the source of the strongest of Baikal winds – the Sarma wind. The first Russians came to Lake Baikal through the river.
Lunch in the open air. Transfer and visit Baidinskiy Caves where the site of prehistoric man was discovered. Visit to the Cave of Dream – one of the oldest caves on our planet. Its age is a few million years, karst origin. In the evening return to the camp. Dinner.
Breakfast. Car tour to Maloye Morye, visiting Buddhistic Mortar at the Ogoi Island. Moving through Olkhon Island to Bolshoe Morye (large sea) where hiking trip starts. Setting up the camp. Campfire dinner. Overnight in tents.
Breakfast. Striking the camp, loading of equipment on sledges. Trekking on the ice to the Cape Uhan. During our way we will view ice shapes and take unforgettable photos – form a new patterns of ice every year. In the evening setting up of the camp. Dinner, songs, dances…
Breakfast. Trekking to the Cape Izimei which is located next to the mount Zima – the highest point of Olkhon Island. According to the legend the spirit of the island lives here. And opposite this mountain there is the deepest place of the Baikal. Dinner. Overnight on the ice of the Baikal (of course in tents).
Breakfast. Trekking to Uzuri village where one of the meteorological stations of Lake Baikal is located. Dinner. Overnight.
Breakfast. Trekking to Cape Khoboi – the northernmost point of the island. Lunch. Loading in the Russian truck (‘Wazik’), transfer to Khuzhir village. Overnight in resort (twin/triple rooms). Dinner. Banya.
Breakfast. Visit to Cape Shamanka – one of the seven houses of Burkhan in the world. Lunch in the cafe. Transfer to Irkutsk. Accommodation in the hotel. Gala dinner.
